    Meet Our Newest Board Member

    By Ann Geffen | Uncategorized | 0 comment | 18 January, 2022 | 1

We are pleased to introduce David Longman as our newest board member! Read below to learn how he connected with our community.

What is your involvement with the TANGO2 Research Foundation?

I am a member of Research and Outreach Committees, a Regional Coordinator and, most recently became a board member.

How long have you been involved with this organization?

    2 years

What is your connection to TANGO2? Why did you get involved?

My son Erling was diagnosed with TANGO2 disease shortly after his 2nd birthday. I got involved as a way to get help from the community and manage this disease. I remain involved so that I can help to fund and find treatments for my son and the other patients.

    Tell us about yourself!

I live in Western Australia, in the hills on a big bush block with my wife, Kate and our two kids, Ingrid and Erling. Our kids are the focus and center of my life. They are chalk and cheese but both awesome. I am a high school science teacher and I love my job. I used to work as a neurophysiology technologist and before that, I worked as a research assistant at the University of Western Australia. My science background has been very useful to me as a parent of a child with TANGO2 disease. It makes me appreciative of the great researchers who work along with us! I am an enthusiastic runner and use this to manage the stresses of special needs parenthood!

What do you enjoy the most about being a volunteer for the TANGO2 Research Foundation?

First and foremost I do this for my son. I really believe this Foundation is doing great things and will lead to a cure for his condition. As I have become more involved I have realized I also do it for me. The act of volunteering, whether it be involvement in committees or running a fundraiser, reminds me that I can make a difference to my son’s future.
