Sammy is a friendly and joyful boy who never met a stranger. His passion is football and could basically tell you about any player on any college or NFL team. He is a senior in high school and the football manager of his varsity football team. He is also an Eagle Scout. The best quality about Sammy is his caring and selfless heart. He is always the biggest cheerleader of others’ accomplishments. He always looks for ways to make others feel important and beautiful.
Sammy was diagnosed with Tango2 in January 2016. From the time he took his first steps we noticed some abnormalities. As he got older, symptoms progressed, these include hypothyroidism, Long QT syndrome, gait issues, intellectual difficulty, as well as muscular and neurological disorders, such as epilepsy. For the majority of his 17 years, he has been subjected to numerous, extensive diagnostic testing, but not having a diagnosis, we were forced to just treat each symptom individually. Having a diagnosis allows us to understand “why” he has the ailments, but we would love nothing more than to have more medical research and studies to find a cure.
