The TANGO2 Research Foundation is thrilled to announce the successful submission of full proposals for our Cycle 5 grant program on Friday, February 28, 2025. This cycle, seven applicants from around the world—including Spain, Italy, Germany, Canada, and the U.S.—were invited to submit full proposals as we continue our commitment to advancing TANGO2 Deficiency Disorder (TDD) research.

Since our inception, we have remained dedicated to funding groundbreaking research that deepens our understanding of TDD and improves patient outcomes. With this cycle, we are on track to invest over $1 million in TANGO2 research since 2018. Thanks to the dedication of researchers worldwide, we now understand that the TANGO2 protein plays a critical role in cellular energy production, lipid metabolism, and heart function. These discoveries have paved the way for potential therapeutic strategies, including the role of B vitamins and other metabolic interventions in managing TDD symptoms.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the researchers, clinicians, and advocates working tirelessly to uncover new discoveries and bring hope to the TANGO2 community. Best of luck to our Cycle 5 applicants—we look forward to seeing the next wave of scientific breakthroughs!

Grant awardees will be announced this June during our Shine a Light on TANGO2 Celebration. From now until June, we encourage our community to get involved in Shine a Light events and help raise funds to support life-changing TDD research. Together, we are making strides toward a brighter future for individuals living with TDD.
